Trinidad and Tobago had a better second half but went down 4-1 to Jamaica in their Concacaf Gold Cup Group A match at City Park in St Louis, Missouri, United States of America (USA) tonight.

Andre Rampersad elicited hopes for Trinidad and Tobago at the start of the second half when he netted four minutes after the restart, but they found the three goals the Reggae Boyz had scored in the first half too much of a deficit to overcome.

Demarai Gray, who celebrated his 27th birthday today, scored a brace in the 14th and 29th minutes, with Leon Bailey scoring a third for the Reggae Boyz in the 17th. The Reggae Boyz dominated the action in the first half, which provided their cushion for the second stanza.

Reggae Boyz despite Trinidad and Tobago’s better showing in the second half, still had several chances to score, with Bailey on two occasions and substitute Shamar Nicholson missing good opportunities to increase their lead.

Substitute Dujuan Richards, however, added a fourth for the Reggae Boyz two minutes into the second half added time when his shot from outside the area took a deflection, leaving Trinidad and Tobago’s goalkeeper Nicklas Frenderup stranded in the middle of the goal.
