Donna Duncan Scott, Group Executive Director, Culture and Leadership at Jamaica Money Market Brokers (JMMB), is often referred to as a visionary and ‘Ms Possibility Thinker’.

She has a B.Sc. in Engineering, (UWI, St Augustine), and an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, Canada and is an accredited chartered financial analyst.

Recollecting her time at college, she said she developed her strength as a leader, appreciating the impact of working in groups, of bringing individuals and groups together.

She learnt to take responsibility for her growth and acknowledging her truths, to be able to let go of self-imposed limitations and embrace the fullness of life.

"I also learnt to have fun, to laugh. When you come from love and fun, creativity and excellence follow," she said.

Her experience as a University of the West Indies student laid the foundation for her life's work. It also had an impact on her personal life.  "I was blessed to be there. I took it on. I drank it in. I lived it fully. I got back what I gave. Yes, I really feel blessed," she said.

She has brought all that she has ‘drank’ in to the JMMB.

“When I joined JMMB, my mother, Joan, who founded the company, promoted and lived a life of love. The love had to be unconditional to be meaningful.

“This commitment is the foundation of the company; it is a living conversation at the company. And so, team members cannot but help carry it with them in their daily lives. Team members are encouraged to stand in a clear space of non-judgement and love."

The culture of the company, according to Duncan-Scott, inspires each individual to take responsibility for his/her action, be it about a client or co-worker.

The team member is prepared to be a "life coach" to the client. She acknowledges that the "culture" of JMMB is not right for everyone. Yet, it has become the "perfect space" for many, as the attrition rate at the 300- strong brokerage house is low.

Donna navigates her way through life with the philosophy in mind that “We were born to manifest the glory of God. It is not just some of us; it is every one of us". She is committed to the applicability of this fundamental through the varying aspects of her life.

Although she has since handed the reigns of the JMMB to her brother her legacy to JMMB will not soon be forgotten.
