Agriculture Ministry extends Conch season

Agriculture Ministry has extended the closed season for Conch fishing until February 29.
People are not permitted to fish for conch until that time. The closed season was expected to end on January 5.
The Agriculture Ministry said the extension is necessary to assess the status of the conch resources, and to determine the best management strategies to ensure the protection and the viability of the industry.
Persons caught fishing conch before February 29, may be found guilty of an offence.
