Energy Minister in Suriname, Gregory Rusland said Venezuela has expressed an interest in establishing a gas pipeline in the country.
Mr. Rusland said the proposal from Caracas would include laying the pipeline on the seabed with a division leading to Guyana.
He said the proposal was made by Venezuelan President, Hugo Chavez after his government informed Caracas of plans to increase energy production.
Experts from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Energy and officials from the state owned Oil Company are exploring whether the pipeline project is economically feasible.
Venezuelan experts are also collecting data on the project that is to be discussed at the next PetroCaribe summit.
