Hard work by police detectives on Friday resulted in the rescue of a kidnapped man and the arrest of two suspected kidnappers.

Police personnel from the Organised Crime Investigation Division (OCID) and the Anti-Gang Special Team on Friday rescued the 52-year-old businessman of a Kingston 5 address more than 48 hours after he had been abducted.

The man had been kidnapped early on Wednesday morning in the Corporate Area. His kidnappers demanded a multimillion-dollar ransom.

The police were alerted, and after intense investigation, the man was rescued from a house in the Little Kew Road area of South St Andrew where he was being held. He was unharmed.

Two members of the notorious Rat Bat gang were arrested. A third person escaped and is being sought.

"From the police were alerted, Senior Superintendent Fitz Bailey and his team at OCID started the hard work that never stopped until the man was rescued," Karl Angell, director of communications for the police force, told The Sunday Gleaner.

"This is proof that efforts by the force to build its capacity to deal with other crimes is working," Angell added.
