Goule sets new national 800m record

Jamaica's top female middle distance runner, Natoyta  Goule, set a national record in the 800 metres at the Diamond League meet in Paris yesterday.
      Goule finished fifth  in the women's  800 metres in 1:57.69.  The previous mark was 1:57.88, set in 2006 by Kenia Sinclair. South African Caster Semenya  won the event in a new personal best, Diamond League record and world leading 1:54.24.
  In the women's triple jump  Kimberly Williams took second with a distance of 14.56 metres. Caterine Ibarguen of Colombia remained unbeaten in 2018 after posting a season's best 14.83 metres for the win. Shanieka Ricketts had a fifth-place finish with 14.38 metres.
    The meet was highlighted by a big performance from Abderrahman Samba of Qatar in the men's 400m hurdles. He became the second man to go under 47 seconds in the event after posting a new personal best of 46.98. The time was also a Diamond League, meet record. Kyron McMaster of the British Virgin Island was second in a new personal best and National record 47.54.
    In the women's 400m Stephenie Ann McPherson  placed fifth in 50.39 seconds while Anastasia Le-Roy was eighth in 52.44. The event was won by Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain in an area record and personal best of 49.55.
 Earlier  Commonwealth Games gold medallist Aisha Praught was eighth in the women's 3000m Steeplechase in 9:20.89.
