Forte fastest of all
MVP Track Club's Julian Forte was the fastest qualifier heading into Friday's semi-finals of the men's 100 metres following quaterfinal action on Thursday night at the JAAA/Supreme Ventures Limited National Senior and Junior Championships inside the National Stadium.
Competing in heat two, Forte registered a season's best 10.10 seconds. Nesta Carter was second in 10.19 ahead of Waseem Williams, third in 10.33.
Teammates Kenroy Anderson and Yohan Blake of Racers Track Club were also impressive in the first heat. Both crossed the line together in 10.11 with Anderson getting the win in what was a personal best for him. Former national champion Oshane Bailey of Sprintec was third in 10.24.
Tyquendo Tracy won heat three in 10.12 with Julliane Walker second in 10.29.
Senoj-Jay Givans captured heat four in 10.27 from Racers Track Club teammate Kemar Bailey Coke, 10.31. In this heat, the race lost one of the pre-meet favourites when Jevaughn Minzie was disqualified after a false start.
