Continue to produce graduates who help to shape Jamaica

Published:Sunday | January 25, 2026 | 12:06 AM

On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, I am delighted to extend heartfelt congratulations to the principal, staff, students, alumni, and wider school community of Kingston Technical High School as you celebrate 130 years of service to education and national development.

Your celebratory theme, ‘130 Years of Excellence: Honouring our Past, Inspiring and Breaking Ground for Future Generations’, captures both the legacy and the responsibility of Kingston Technical High School.

From its earliest days, Kingston Technical High School has recognised the value of hands-on learning, producing graduates who are skilled, disciplined, and ready to contribute. That approach has shaped artisans, technicians, and professionals whose work has strengthened our economy and our communities.

Kingston Technical’s foundation reminds us that technical education is a credible route to success. It equips young people with practical skills and problem-solving ability, which are qualities Jamaica needs now more than ever.

I commend Kingston Technical High School for continuing to modernise its programmes, embrace innovation, and prepare students for careers in engineering, construction, design, and emerging industries.

May this 130th anniversary serve as a reminder of your school’s role as a light to the community and to the students who will be educated at your noble institution for years to come. I am confident that Kingston Technical High School will continue to produce graduates who are ready to build, innovate, and help shape a stronger Jamaica for generations to come.

Happy 130th anniversary.

Senator, Dr the Hon Dana Morris Dixon

Minister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information
