A police patrol foiled an alleged attempt to steal a motor car in Allman Town, Kingston, on Tuesday morning. One man was arrested after his accomplices reportedly fled in another vehicle, leaving him at the scene.

The incident occurred shortly after 4 a.m. at the corner of Great George Street and Sarah Street, where two men allegedly tried to pry open the front door of the vehicle.

Gunshots reportedly rang out during the encounter and the men attempted to head back to a separate car. However, the vehicle drove off leaving one of the suspects, who was later arrested.

Car theft has been a persistent crime issue in Jamaica in recent years, prompting heightened police vigilance in high-risk areas.
