Kingston 6 traffic mess
THE EDITOR, Madam:
I write on behalf of all motorists who drive in the Kingston 6 area, notably Mona Road, Wellington Drive and Old Hope Road.
It has been absolute torment plying these roads since the NWC began laying pipes on Wellington Drive, making the road impassable and resulting in extensive delays daily, in utilising alternate routes.
Last week at 2 p.m., I was driving on Mona Road, from The University of the West Indies, Mona campus and the line of traffic heading to Liguanea was at a standstill at the intersection of Mona Road and Wellington Drive! This is unacceptable.
I hereby call on the Jamaica Constabulary Force to urgently intervene in what has become an untenable situation. Please have traffic cops positioned at the Matilda’s Corner intersection to allow a longer time for the flow of traffic than the traffic lights allow, from Upper Old Hope Road (from Papine) to Hope Road (past Sovereign Centre to Half-Way Tree).
It cannot be that citizens are inconvenienced and not a single measure has been implemented to mitigate against this situation. Fix this now, please!
