PEP a fairer model of assessment
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I wish to congratulate Michael-Anthony Dobson-Lewis on his recent article 'PEP a step up on GSAT' (The Gleaner, September 5, 2018), as well as to add to the discussion.
My take on the Primary Exit Profile (PEP) is on the last P (Profile). By understanding the students' profile, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Information will be in a better position to make accurate decisions about the students who took the exam. Furthermore, the increased emphasis on assessing students' demonstration of 21st-century skills, as stated by the ministry, would provide a foundation for learning when the young graduates go into high schools.
Thanks again, Mr Dobson-Lewis, for writing this article.
